Climate Academy
Students engage with global climate experts associated with the universities of Oxford & Cambridge, acquire skills to participate in global climate competitions, and earn certificates, grades & invitations to COP events, which would be valuable in strengthening their academic profile
Climate change is the defining issue of our time, and the future depends on the actions we take today. Our course is designed to empower students with the knowledge and tools needed to tackle this global challenge head-on.
Learning Objectives
Comprehend the primary anthropogenic and natural drivers of climate change, including industrial emissions, deforestation, and land-use changes, with a focus on the global carbon cycle and feedback loops.
Investigate the regional variations in climate impacts, including rising sea levels, extreme weather events, and shifting ecosystems, and how these changes affect different parts of the world.
Evaluate international climate agreements (e.g., Paris Agreement, Kyoto Protocol), and explore how global cooperation, national commitments, and regulatory frameworks address climate change challenges.
Design context-specific adaptation strategies for vulnerable regions and mitigation solutions, including renewable energy, sustainable agriculture, and urban planning, that address global climate challenges.
Examine how industries such as energy, agriculture, and transportation contribute to climate change and explore sustainable alternatives and business practices that reduce their carbon footprint.
Understand the disproportionate effects of climate change on marginalized communities, particularly in developing countries, and analyze how climate justice frameworks can guide equitable solutions.
Sustainable technologies and practices such as solar, wind, and other renewable energy systems, waste reduction strategies, and water conservation methods in real-world projects.
Gain proficiency in analyzing climate data and reports from global institutions (e.g., IPCC), interpreting trends in temperature rise, sea level changes, and carbon emissions.
Develop skills in engaging with diverse stakeholders (governments, NGOs, businesses) to collaborate on global climate initiatives and projects that drive collective climate action.
Create action plans that address both local and global climate needs, considering social, economic, and environmental factors, to drive sustainable development and reduce global climate risks.
